The First Proclamation But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward. Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt unto this day I have even sent unto you all my servants the prophets, daily rising up early and sending them: Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers. Therefore thou shalt speak all these words unto them; but they will not hearken to thee: thou shalt also call unto them; but they will not answer thee. But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the Lord their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.
Fix your gaze on Jesus O Holy Spirit, coach us on what is best for us, the way designed by the Lord for the children to become like the Father…. God, the Source of All That Is, having designed “What Is”, knows how to bring out the best, the most of “What Is”. For example, when we humans create something, we strive and bring out the best of whatever we create…. to the extent we apply our intelligence thereto. But, for this to happen, the substance on which we apply our creative will on, should abide, or obey our wishes thereto; without which, the resulting product will certainly not be in the condition we would wish for. Similarly, God shows that obedience was required of them, the children He is processing / evolving. He knows our potential, and knows the best way to attain it; and as for us, we should let His Will have sway over our lives. That which God commanded was, Hearken diligently to the voice of the Lord thy God. The promise is very encouraging. Let God’s will be your rule, and his favour shall be your happiness, and your blossoming forth to your full potential. Thinking that we know better, we go each our own ways, and reap the sorry results we presently enjoy. God was displeased with disobedience. We understand the gospel as little as the Jews understood the law, if we think that even the sacrifice of Christ lessens our obligation to obey. Learn to choose “What is Good” in the eyes of the Lord.
Prayer Starter May we realise that in obeying the commandments of the Lord, we would blossom forth and reach our full potential….
